How to Avoid Hairstyling Catastrophe

How to Avoid Hairstyling Catastrophe

One quick way of changing ones looks is a change of hairstyles. A change if hairstyle however could be disastrous when the new hairstyle does not come out as planned. Some examples of hairstyling catastrophe could be the wrong style of haircut that looks good on a celebrity but is totally wrong for you; a devastating hair color such as purple, green or blue; or even the decision of chopping off long hair that you immediately regret even before leaving the hair salon. To help you avoid these hairstyling catastrophes, here are some points to consider before rushing off to the hair salon:

• Choose a hairstyle that is flattering to your facial shape. When browsing over magazines and even the internet for a hairstyle try to look for images or pictures of hairstyle models or even celebrities with the same facial shape as yours. If the hairstyle looks good on them, it probably will look good on you too.

• Know your hair type and choose a hairstyle that is suitable for your own hair type. The texture and density of your hair play a big part in its ability to carry off a hairstyle. If you are not aware of your own hair type seek the assistance of your hair stylist and have her assess your hair.

• Consider your life style. If you are a busy bee and don’t have too much time to attend to styling your hair every morning, then go for the low-maintenance, less time consuming hairstyle.

• Weigh your decision of cutting off your long hair. It is a drastic change that will take a long time to remedy (you have to wait for it to grow) if and when you regret having it cut.

• Assess your stock of hair styling products and check if what you have are what you need to maintain and achieve the look that your chosen hairstyle requires.

HAIR TIPS FOR MEN

HAIR TIPS FOR MEN

Okay guys. It’s time you started taking care of your hair like women do. Women will love you for it and you’ll feel a lot better about yourself too. If your hair is dry and brittle, you don’t look good. Follow these tips for some great hair.

Use the Conditioner

Yes, use conditioner. Men often only use shampoo (or dish detergent if they’re out!) and never even consider the conditioner. You really should buy a set of shampoo and conditioner for your hair type. Shampoo once or twice a week (more if you get grimy or really sweaty) and condition three or four times at least. If you can’t remember, then pick a shampoo/conditioner combination. Your hair will thank you.

Air Dry

Towel rubbing is strictly a no-no. Don’t do it. Rubbing your hair with a towel will cause it to break and you’ll have frizzed hair with split ends that doesn’t look very nice. If you must use a towel to dry your hair, rub your hair in the direction it grows with the towel. It’ll take a bit longer but it’s better for your hair. If at all possibly, let the air dry it.

Chemicals are Bad

If we don’t want to eat or breathe chemicals, why do we want to put them on our hair? The shorter your hair is, the less chemicals you need to style it. Any chemical will dry your hair out, leaving it brittle and breaking. Make sure you only use what you absolutely have to use and use conditioner if you use chemicals. If you can, use all natural products that are less harsh and have more conditioners.

Chill Out

Your hair doesn’t like hot showers. While you may love them, they strip all the essential oils out of your hair and that leaves it dry. Conditioner will help, but try to wash your hair in cooler water than the rest of you.

Follow these tips for great hair and you’ll be amazed at the difference! You’ll look better, feel better, and you’ll get noticed.

2010 WINTER HAIR - HOW TO AVOID SPLIT ENDS

WINTER HAIR - HOW TO AVOID SPLIT ENDS

Split ends are some of the most annoying things about hair that has ever existed. While there are many products that say they will fix your split ends, none of them actually can repair that much damage. At best, they can seal, smooth, and coat the break but it’s only a temporary fix. To fix split ends, avoid them. Here’s how.

1. Don’t brush wet hair. This will make your hair stretch, and if it’s wet, it can stretch up to 25%! This is when your hair is very vulnerable. Use a wide toothed comb to detangle your hair instead and comb very gently and evenly.

2. Avoid blow drying on a daily basis. This goes for curling irons, flat irons, and anything else that uses heat on your hair. Heat causes a lot of damage and will lead to split ends. If you can, let your hair air dry at least once a week.

3. Blot your hair with a towel rather then rubbing. Rubbing causes breaks and splits, so a gentle blot might take longer, but you’ll avoid the breaks.

4. If you have chemically treated your hair (colored, permed, or anything else) make sure you use products made for that. These products help repair damage and help to preventsplit ends.

5. Don’t use plain rubber bands on your hair. These damage hair and can even rip it out by the roots. Pick bands that actually are made for hair and that say “no damage.”

6. Eat healthy. A bad diet will show up first in your hair, and that is in the form of split ends and dryness.

7. Finally, get a trim every 6 to 8 weeks. This will get rid of weak ends and keep you from ever getting split ends. Not to mention it’ll get rid of the ones you might already have.
